Public lecture + live performance
The talk was a retrospective of the Hangzhou underground music scene at the turn of the 20th century, centred around the history of the band 2pi and 2pi Records, and later the 2pi Festival, starting with the bar at No. 31 Lingyin Road where it all initially stemmed from, and Li and his partners Chen Wei and JIMU gave a talk centred around the development of 2pi and their subsequent music.
2pi was the name of Li’s first band, the name of the first label he founded and the name of his first festival. 2pi Festival took place every November from 2003-2007 in Hangzhou, and was one of the earliest avant-garde/experimental/ improvisation/noise festivals in mainland China.
At the end of the day, Li and Chen Wei collaborated together once again after a long time since their collaboration during 2pi Times.
